A child is going to a Chinese teahouse to drink oolong tea and to have dim sum. The child's father says that dim sum means "a little bit of heart" and indeed dim sum is a meal made up of lots of little things, little tastes with different flavors and textures.

The meal begins with the tea which is too hot to drink at first. Then a bamboo steamer arrives and in it there are little parcels of ha gau, or steamed shrimp dumplings. Dish after dish arrives until, at last, the little child's "tummy is full."

Young readers who are not familiar with Chinese dim sum will be intrigued by the foods that they see on the pages of this board book. The multimedia collage artwork was created using using papers, fabrics and other media. The effect is colorful, it has depth, and it gives readers a tantalizing picture of a special family meal. A minimal text with a simple rhyming format perfectly compliments the artwork.

One the back of the book readers will find a list which explains what all the food items described in the book are.
