Three little leprechauns are in a frightful hurry for rain is coming and they have their “leprechaun duty” to do - burying a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that will surely follow the rain. Of course, as they walk along the lanes to go to get their pot of gold they cannot help doing that other things that leprechauns do – make mischief.

So with the help of a few willing farm animals the three little men lay the groundwork for three wonderful pranks. If only they could stay to see how their victims react but…there is work to be done.

In this amusing picture book Eve Bunting has managed to give her three mischievous characters a delightful Irish way of speaking. With their red hair, scarlet shoes, and stripped stockings, they are a lovable trio who remind us that it would be wise to seek the end of a rainbow if the opportunity ever presents itself.
