We are going to join a very special team. Meet Dmitri Kare-Enoff, Esperanza la Paz, and Dr. Mir Cosmos who are the founders of the Planet Patrol. Together we are going to find out about our precious planet Earth and we are going to discover what we can do to help preserve and protect our home. We will begin by learning about some of the animals and plants that share the planet with us. It is quite frightening to discover that many plants and animals are endangered and that we are all going to have to work very hard in a number of ways to save them.

Then we will read about the condition of the water, the air, and some of the ecosystems on Earth. We will discover that many of our water sources are very polluted and are being used unwisely. Even the climate of our planet is being changed by the things that we are doing and if we are not careful we are going to damage our atmosphere beyond the point of return.

Finally we are going to get busy, for there are lots of things that we can do to help. Though the picture can be grim at times, there are many ways in which we can do our part to protect and save our planet. From recycling, to rethinking how we shop and eat. From changing the way we travel to making new energy choices; there is so much that can be done.

This extremely helpful book not only provides readers with a great deal of information about the state of our planet. It also gives the reader the tools he or she needs to make a difference and to bring about change. All too often children feel helpless in the face of mass deforestation, global warming, pollution, and ecosystem destruction. This book will help them not only understand the issues but it will help them see that they have a vital part to play in the fight to preserve our home.
