A race is in progress and the animals, each in a vehicle of their choice, are all eager to win. Zebra, in his big, bright and blue dump truck is sure that he is going to win. Elephant, in his big, red bus is so confident of his vehicle’s speed that he is sure that he is winning. These two animals are not the only ones who are convinced that they are going to win the race. Monkey in his yellow digger, Panda in her orange sports car, and Bear in his green bulldozer are all eager participants. Lion, in his ice-cream truck is so sure that he is going to win that he stops to bow to his audience. It never occurs to him and the other animals that another competitor might beat them all to the finish line.
In this clever board book, an engaging little story about a race provides children with a splendid way to learn their colors and the names of some animals. Sound words give the tale a feeling of high energy and anticipation, and die-cut wheel holes on every spread gives the colorful artwork an extra touch of whimsy.
