When Zoe has to go to school, soccer practice, or on days when it is rainy, an adult chooses what she is going to wear, and she has to accept whatever is chosen for her. Today it is Saturday, which means that Zoe “gets to decide” what she is going to wear.

What kind of a day is she going to have? Perhaps today is a pocket day that will require her to wear her full-of-pockets jacket. Or, today might be a twirling day, a day when she will “spin till I’m light as a feather.” If she plans on twirling, she is going to have to wear her purple dress that has a skirt that was practically made for the purpose.

Of course, today might be a cartwheeling kind of day, in which case she will wear her yellow leggings and a leotard. Is she going to want to blend in or stand out? There are so many choices, and Zoe’s mother is waiting for her to make up her mind. What is a girl supposed to do when she does not know what to choose?

Children who like the freedom that they have on non-school days are going to love meeting Zoe, a little girl who takes her free time very seriously. It is clearly very important that Zoe makes sure to match her clothes with the activity that she plans on doing that day. After all, you cannot wear a red dress when you want to be inconspicuous, and you cannot go exploring if you are not wearing the right exploring clothes.

With deliciously sweet illustrations and a minimalist text, this picture book is a must for children who like to be properly ready for their day.
