A little girl loves to be with her dad, and she loves being with him for so many reasons. When he hugs her she feels safe “like a little bird in a warm, comfy nest.” Enclosed by his arms, the things in the wide world that are normally frightening lose their power to scare her because being with her dad makes her feel “brave.”
Being with her dad also makes her feel daring, and she tries things that she is not sure of because she knows that her dad is there, on the sidelines, cheering her on. He makes her feel confident in herself; for example she is able to jump into the water at the pool because she knows that he will catch her. This confidence can grow until she becomes adventurous. Together she and Dad do all kinds of amazing things.
There is another side to dad too, the side that makes her feel calm, and the side that helps her to set aside anger when it tries to take over. With his help “the storm in my heart passes,” and all is right with the world once more.
This delightful book is an ode to fathers, a celebration of all those wonderful men who make their children’s lives better every single day. This would be a perfect book to share with a father on a child’s birthday and on Father’s Day.
