Learning shapes can be a lot of fun, if you find a way to make the process interesting and engaging. This is exactly what the creators of this book have done. They present little children with four basic shapes: a circle, a square, a rectangle, and a triangle. For each shape, there is a page where there is a picture of the shape, its name, and a brief description. For example, we learn that a circle “is round” and that a square has “four sides.”

On the facing page we see a photo of an object that has that shape. For example, opposite the circle we see a photo of a soccer ball. Beneath the ball there is some text that asks us “What’s shaped like a circle?” If you open up the page you see the soccer ball being held by a little child, and four labeled pictures of other round objects, which include a button and a cracker.

At the back of the book there is a fold out page that reveals a picture that is full of circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles. Children will enjoy identifying the shapes and exploring the art.

With fold out pages, die cut shapes, bright colored photos and illustrations, and sturdy board pages, this is a perfect title for little children. An introduction at the beginning of the book offers parents and teachers tips on how to use to the book to teach their children about shapes.
