All of us have things that we want. Sometimes they are important things, like wanting someone we love to be with us. Then there are the times when the thing we want is unimportant and essentially unnecessary, like wanting a chocolate bar or a new cool outfit.

In this clever and beautifully illustrated board book Lars Klinting takes a look at some of the things that people, animals, and things might want. He begins with a rooster who wants something. When we turn the page we see that he wants his hen. This makes absolute sense, don’t you think? Later in the book we see little brother. He is sitting down and howling. Clearly he wants something badly, but what is that something? When we turn the page we find out that little brother wants a band-aid. Of course he does, he has a bump on his forehead!

Little children are going to have a grand time guessing what it is that the characters and things in this book want. Sometimes the correct answer is easy to figure out, but sometimes the author surprises us by coming up with something unexpected.
