Everywhere you look, you see colorful things, things with names that you have to remember. When you are little, all these names can seem overwhelming. There are so many of them! One way to help little children to learn and remember their colors is to explore colors in a new way.

In this clever novelty board book, the editors at Begin Smart Books look at familiar fruits and vegetables. Every double page spread shows the picture of fruit or veggie. The words on the page give the reader the name of the fruit and its color. On the opposite page, the text encourages the reader to figure out where the fruit or vegetable grows. When you open up this page, you see the fruit or veggie growing on a tree, on the ground, or on a plant, and you all see other fruits and veggies that are the same color.

For example, on one of the pages we see a red apple. When we open up the facing page we see that apples grow on trees and that other red fruits include cherries, raspberries, tomatoes, and watermelon.

In addition to the red apple, children will see a green lettuce, an orange cantaloupe, yellow corn, and purple grapes.
