It is a very sunny hot day and a little boy is going around town and seeing that many of the people he knows are feeling just a bit too hot. For Bob who likes to jog, the heat is so intense that he has to sit and have a rest, and in his store Pop who "likes to mop" also has to take a rest. The little boy has the perfect solution for the heat on a day like this - a visit to the pool.
In this Level One Reader's Clubhouse title young readers are given the opportunity to practice their understanding and use of the "o" sound. By using words that are easy to sound out and by using "high-frequency" words as well, the author makes this a reading experience which beginners won't find too intimidating. At the same time more challenging words are included to help young readers stretch their reading muscles a little.
At the back of the book there is more information about hot weather and temperatures and there is a craft activity which young readers may enjoy trying on their own hot summer days.
