Little children love tools of all kinds, be they kitchen tools such as whisks and metal bowls, or building tools such as tape measures and levels. Many children pester their grownups to let them use these tools, and they then pretend to make something with them.

In this board book we get to learn about some of the tools that one finds in a carpenter’s tool box, and after our little introduction is complete we get to see what the tools are being used for.

We begin with a tape measure which, we are told, “counts how much to use.”  In a picture we see a boy using a tape measure to measure the length of a piece of lumber. Next we see a picture of a saw, a tool that “slices lumber to size.” In the accompanying illustration we see an older gentleman with glasses who is using a saw to cut the end off a piece of wood. We then go on to see a wrench, a drill, a screwdriver, and a hammer. Finally, we see how all these tools are used to complete a building project.

Little girls and boys who have a fascination with hammers and nails, saws and drills, are going to love this simple and engaging board book.
