Dorothy lives on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. One day a tornado appears and though she is told to take refuge in the cellar, Dorothy ends up staying in the house and that is where she is when the tornado hits. Dorothy, her dog Toto, and the house that she lives in, all land in a strange and wonderful place called Oz. The house by accident lands on a wicked witch who has been the scourge of the country of the Munchkins. Though Oz is a very beautiful place, Dorothy cannot help wanting to return to her native Kansas and to her Aunt Em and her Uncle Henry. However, going home is not going to be easy, and Dorothy is told that she should visit the Wizard of Oz who lives in the Emerald City. He is a very powerful wizard and perhaps he has the means to send Dorothy home.

On her journey towards the Emerald City Dorothy meets and is joined by a Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion. All three of these characters also need the help of the “Great and Terrible Oz.” Unfortunately for the unlikely foursome, the wizard turns out to be the kind of person who will not help anyone unless he gets something in return. His demands send the odd looking group on yet another quest which may not have a happy ending.

Timeless, full of adventures, and packed with peculiar and delightful characters, this is a story that has lost none of its charm over the years.
