One night, shadows crept down the dark street and up to Tom’s house. Tom was a nice boy who was about to find himself in the middle of an amazing adventure. The shadows stole the front of Tom’s house which they carried away, taking Tom with them.

The girl pirates, for that is who the shadows were, stole the front of Tom’s house so that they can use it as a disguise. The pirates, with Tom, their new shipmate, sailed to an island where Captain Patch and his adult pirates were napping. Captain Patch, who was probably keeping an eye on the treasure he and his crew had found, saw a house sailing towards him, and there was a little boy waving hello at him from one of the top house windows.

Captain Patch roared at his crew to “Do something” but they didn’t wake up and the floating house sailed closer…and closer.

Children are going to love this amusing pop-up book, which has a clever story, splendid artwork, and wonderful pop-ups on every page, as well as a few other novelty features. Who can resists a story that has pirates, treasure, ships, and a little boy who ends up having an unexpected adventure.
