On the morning of Mother’s Day three little mice get up early to get their gifts for their mother. Biggest Mouse and Middle Mouse have no difficulty getting their gifts for Mother but Littlest Mouse’s gift, a sprig of honeysuckle, is not going to be easy to get for the cat bars their way to the honeysuckle plant. The three little mice wait as long as the can, hoping that the cat will move along but alas it does not and the mice have to go home. Little Mouse is empty handed, or at least his brothers think he is. In fact, Little Mouse has got a wonderful gift for Mother after all, a gift of music and love.

Eve Bunting and Jan Brett have come together to create a beautiful and love filled picture book which will make mothers of all kinds smile on Mother’s Day as they read this charming little story with their children. Full of cunning little details, the illustrations are a beautiful example of Brett’s superb skill, and they are a perfectly suited to Eve Bunting’s evocative text.
