Long ago on a cold winter’s night some animals in a stable were finding it hard to settle down. They all had a feeling that something important was about to happen. A mother cat who lived in the stable was looking for one of her three kittens. She was very worried and she looked everywhere but the kitten could not be found. Then the animals heard something. The door of the stable opened and a man and woman came inside the stable. The man looked for a place where his wife could lie down and rest. Just then the mother cat found her kitten lying fast asleep in the manger. Quickly she picked up her wayward child and carried away to safety.

Later that night, another baby was sleeping in that same manger, a human boy baby who would one day change the world.

In this simply told Christmas tale children will hear the familiar story from a different point of view - from the point of view of a mother cat who has lost her baby. With its beautifully executed and distinctive illustrations, this is a picture book which cat lovers of all ages will enjoy.

At the back of the book the author includes some further information about the symbols which so many of us now associate with the Christmas season.
