Historical Fiction Series
For ages 10 and up
Random House UK, 2010 ISBN: 978-1862304208
Twelve years ago, Queen Elizabeth I of England was crowned. For the anniversary of her coronation, the queen plans on holding a special celebration. Dignitaries from all over Europe have been invited to attend, and the Queen is going to wear the crown of St. Edward, the crown that has been worn by every English monarch since Edward the Confessor.
Just days before the queen is supposed to wear her crown in public, the precious treasure is stolen. To have to admit that the crown was stolen from right under her nose is something the queen cannot bear to do. Desperate not to lose face in front of her guests (many of whom are not friendly towards the queen and her country), the queen asks her goddaughter Lady Grace Cavendish to help find the crown. Grace has shown many times over that she has a talent for discretely solving mysteries.
Carefully and quickly, Grace sets about trying to find out who the thief is. Even with the help of her friends Ellie and Masou, Grace is soon running out of time. Will she be able to find the crown before it is too late?
This excellent Lady Grace mystery is not only highly entertaining, but it also shows young reader how events that took place in the past can sometimes have a deleterious impact on events in the present.
This is the seventh title in the lady Grace Cavendish series.
