It is summer and the days are warm. It is the time of year when the grass is green, when the days are long, when the sun is hot, and when gardens and fields are fruitful producing lots of the fruits, vegetables and crops that we need. Because so much is growing animals have lots to eat and life is relatively easy. Many animals sleep during the hotter times of the day and are more active when it cools off in the afternoons and evenings.

For people summer is often a time for vacations and for playing. It is an especially wonderful time for children. Many children go to camp, play with their friends, and have a splendid time during the Fourth of July and Canada Day.

In this well written little picture book the essence of summer life is not only captured in the text, but it is also captured in the series of excellent annotated photographs which accompanies the written material.

This is one of the titles in the “My First Look At The Seasons” series.
