When Mother Rabbit is listening to the news she hears that a powerful snow storm is expected to hit their town on Christmas Eve. In preparation for this event the kind-hearted mother quickly knits her little Little Rabbit a hat, a wonderful creation which will completely cover up his lovely long ears and which will keep them toasty and warm.

Little Rabbit, delighted with his own hat suggests that he and his mother make all their animal friends winter hats to keep them warm too. Being very careful they secretly measure each of their animal friends and then head home to get to work.

Such hats they make, such incredible and wonderful creations! Unfortunately their animal friends do not at first appreciate what Mother Rabbit and Little Rabbit have done for them. It is only when the snow starts to fall that the animals really begin to realize how much thought and effort went into the making of their hats.

This simple, yet delightful, story puts an interesting twist on the idea that what makes a gift special is the thought that went into the buying or making of it.
