Ruby Valentine and her pet, Lovebird, have moved to a little house on a hill above the town of Heartland. Though there are still unpacked boxes all over the house, Ruby decides to throw a party. Her favorite day of the year, Valentine’s Day, is “drawing near” and she wants to make the day special. Lovebird and Ruby don’t have much time, so they get to work putting up curtains, cleaning, decorating, baking and cooking. They are so busy in fact, that they don’t pay attention to the weather, and when they wake up on Valentine’s Day they see that everything is covered with snow!

In fact, the snow is so deep that no one will be able to come to Ruby’s party, and she will have to celebrate her favorite day of the year alone. Not surprisingly, Ruby is very upset, but Lovebird decides that there is a solution to the problem. All is not lost.

In this charming second Ruby Valentine book, Ruby makes a very important discovery about Valentine’s Day, one which readers of all ages will be able to appreciate. With wonderful illustrations, and a bouncy rhyming text, this is a delightful book to share with others on Valentine’s Day.
