Every year one child from Robbie's class has to tell a Christmas story to the whole school that he or she has written. This year, much to his horror, Robbie has been chosen for this honor. Now, Robbie is a clever and well liked little boy but he does have a problem. If he is feeling nervous or worried, his words, as they come out of his mouth, get all scrambled and make no sense. Most of the time Robbie has no problem speaking to people, but if he has to speak in front of the whole school... well you can imagine what it would be like for Robbie.
Feeling horribly nervous about the coming ordeal, Robbie cannot think of a single story to tell, so he goes to visit his friends to see if they can help him. In fact what happens is that Robbie ends up teaching each of his friends something about Christmas and what the Christmas spirit is. And in turn, when it is time for Robbie to stand up in front of the whole school, each of his friends step forward to help him out.
This funny, charming little story not only reminds readers what we are supposed to be thinking about at Christmastime, but it also speaks to those children who have a hard time when they are put on a stage or in a spotlight. Amusing artwork and a warm tale make this a winning picture book for the Christmas season.
