Have you ever thought about how much you read in any given day? I am not just talking about that comic book that you read under the covers in bed last night, or the fairy tales that you are reading in school. What about the cereal boxes at breakfast, the signs on the street, the weather forecast in the newspaper, and the Internet query that you read on the computer? What about the dictionary that you used to help you with your homework or the magazine that you looked through while you waited in the check out line at the grocery store?

It would seem that our lives are full of reading moments and in this wonderful alphabet book with its simple rhymes and attractive illustrations we are reminded that reading is something that we do all the time. We watch as a little girl goes about her life reading all kinds of things in all kinds of places. We laugh when we see her reading a yoga book while standing on her head, and nod with appreciation when we see her reading “literature in the library” – something many of us have done.

This wonderful picture book serves as an excellent tribute to the written word and to the special ways that reading improves our lives.

This book is a Reading Rainbow title.
