Pip and Posy: The Super Scooter

Pip and Posy: The Super Scooter

Axel Scheffler
Board Book
For ages 2 to 5
Candlewick Press, 2013   ISBN: 978-0763666095

Pip the rabbit has a scooter that he loves, and one day he rides his scooter to the park. Then Posy, who is a mouse, arrives and she really wants to ride on Pip’s scooter. Without so much as a “please” or a “may I..?” Posy takes Pip’s scooter and scooters off as fast as she can. Not surprisingly, Pip is very angry with Posy.

Even though she has never been on a scooter before, Posy scooters around quite happily for a while. Then she tries to do a trick. Posy has no problem going up or down hills on the scooter, but doing tricks is way beyond her ability, which is why she has a very nasty fall.

In this charming little tale Axel Scheffler tells a story that might sound rather familiar to some of his readers. Most of us have, at one time or another, done something that we shouldn’t have done and have paid for our folly dearly. This is what happens to Posy, but thankfully her story does not have an unhappy ending.

With charming artwork and a story that conveys an important message in a gentle way, this board book is sure to delight little children.
