We are going to visit some animals, the kinds of animals who live in places where snow and ice are on the ground for many months of the year. It turns out that these animals like to play peekaboo, which just happens to be a game that many of us like to play too.

The game is very simple. We are presented with the picture of an animal that is covering its eyes (in true peekaboo fashion), and we need to figure out what the animal is. When we think we know the answer we lift up the big flap on the page to see if we are right.

On the first spread we see an animal that could be a dog maybe. Or is it a bear? When we open the flap we discover a picture of two polar bears playing. We were right, our peekaboo partner is a bear.

On the second spread we see a black and white animal with what look like flippers (or maybe they are wings) covering its eyes. What is this animal? When we lift the flap we see a picture of a penguin zipping down a snowy hill on its tummy. It turns out that the black and white animal is a penguin.

Young children are going to enjoy trying to guess the identity of the five animals in this clever little board book. With a flap on every page, the book offers children the opportunity to solve a puzzle in a format that is engaging and playful.
