Papillion is a rather large cat. Some people might suggest that he is fat, but this is not the case. Papillion just happens to be extremely fluffy. In fact he is so fluffy that he is actually lighter than air, which, as you can imagine, can be problematical at times.

Papillion’s person is Miss Tilly, and not surprisingly she worries a great deal that her beloved feline companion is going to “float away and get lost.” Miss Tilly tries to weigh Papillion down by giving him lots of food to eat, but nothing works. Then she discovers that clothes do work. At first Miss Tilly keeps things simple, but then she gets “carried away” and she dresses her cat up in all manner of foolish outfits. Papillion does not like clothes. He won’t even wear an eye patch.

Miss Tilly gives up and she goes out, and while she is gone Papillon has a grand time floating around the house. Then the cat sees a bird on the windowsill and, wanting to make friends with the pretty little thing, he goes towards the window. When the bird flies off, out of the window Papillion goes. Not surprisingly, Papillion soon gets lost and he wishes he could go home. The wide world is rather a scary place, especially when the animals you encounter are far from friendly.

Children are going to thoroughly enjoy this rather usual feline-centric adventure. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, an unusual turn of events leads you down a new path.
