Sometimes, when you are little, opposites are confusing. Which one is big again? Is the word I am looking for ‘long’ or ‘short?’ How is one supposed to remember so many words and ideas.

This engaging book explores several pairs of opposites. What makes it so wonderful is that David Carter uses his delightful pop-up bug characters to help little children to grasp concepts and words. He uses pop-ups that are memorable and so visual that children are sure to remember what they have seen.

There is the big bug versus the little one, the big bug dwarfing its tiny neighbor. Then there is the long bug, which spirals all over the page, and them some. Clearly, this bug is the opposite of the short bug on the next page, which is so short that it looks lost on the double page spread!

This is one in series of pop-up books that David Carter has created.
