When he was a young boy Ted Geisel loved to draw. Inspired by the animals that he saw in the zoo he drew all sorts of fantastical creatures which were clearly animals but which were not quite like real-life animals. He also loved to entertain people and to make them laugh. As he grew up he wasn’t quite sure how he was going do with himself but he was finally lucky enough to find a career which allowed him to write about the world around him and to draw funny pictures – Ted became a writer and a cartoonist.

This love of the written word finally led him to create a children’s picture book. This was the first book of many. Today Ted’s books are favorites with children all over the world and his “Beginner Readers” series has helped thousands of children become comfortable with reading by themselves.

Readers of this biography will be intrigued to discover how Dr. Seuss found his stories, how he faced his problems, and how he overcame them with great humor and courage.

This is one of the titles in the “Creative Minds Biography” series.
