Our bodies are remarkable. They allow us to “do so many things,” and to experience our world in so many ways. In this clever board book the author takes us “from the top of your head to the tips of your toes” to see what our various body parts do.

Not surprisingly our tour begins with our eyes, which allow us to “see the world around you.” They give us the means to see beautiful sunsets and, on a more practical level, to find our way from place to place. Our ears make it possible for us to hear all kinds of sounds like music, laughter, and birds singing.

Thanks to our noses we are able to sniff wonderful scents like warm cookies that have just come out of the oven. Our mouths make it possible for us to smile when we see those cookies, to eat the cookies, and to talk about them. Mouths are also necessary when you want to “give someone you love a big kiss.”

You might think that hair is there just there to make us look good, but it serves a purpose; it keeps us warm. Our joints are even more useful, as they allow us to be active.

After talking about joints and how important they are the author then goes on to talk about hands, legs, feet, and, of course, belly buttons.

On every spread the author provides readers with either further information in a note, or she asks a question. For example, on the page about eyes she asks us what color our eyes are, and on the page about belly buttons we learn that animals like cats and dogs have belly buttons too.

This is a delightfully engaging book to share with children who are ready to learn about the parts of the body.
