There was a time when Mr. Putter lived all alone, and this was a very lonely period in his life. He had no one to share his English muffins with in the mornings, and no one to have tea with in the afternoons. He had no one to share his wonderful stories with either. Luckily. Mr. Putter was wise enough to know that he was lonely and he decided that he wanted a cat to share his life with him.

Mr. Putter went to the pet store and they had lots of cats, but they were all kittens. Mr. Putter did not want a kitten. He wanted an older cat, a cat who was quiet and in need of companionship - just like him. So Mr. Putter went to the shelter and there he found an old cat who was, in many ways, very much like Mr. Putter. Mr. Putter took the cat home and named her Tabby and it wasn't long before Tabby and Mr. Putter were the very best of friends and quite inseparable.

There is no doubt that Mr. Putter and Tabby are going to steal a lot of hearts, for they are an absolutely charming pair. With a simple and understated writing style, and warm and thoroughly delightful illustrations, the early reader chapter book is a treat to read and to share.
