Mr. Pusskins and Little Whiskers: Another Love Story
Picture Book
For ages 5 to 7
Simon and Schuster, 2008 ISBN: 978-1416957966
Mr. Pusskins the cat is very happy with his life. He and Emily, his little girl, get along famously, and they have many happy times together. Then one day Emily announces that she has a surprise for Mr. Pusskins. She places a large cardboard box in front of the cat, and when she opens it Mr. Pusskins sees that there is a little white kitten in the box.
Emily tells Mr. Pusskins that they are going to have to take care of the kitten, who is called Little Whiskers, and that he and the kitten can “play lovely games together.” Mr. Pusskins has no interest in playing games with the kitten, and the kitten has no interest in playing with Mr. Pusskins. Instead, she has a grand time persecuting and upsetting the bigger cat. Mr. Pusskins decides that something has to be done. Little Whiskers has to go.
Accepting a big change in your life, such as the arrival of someone new in your household, isn’t always easy. Ideally, everyone should get along from the first moment, but in reality this rarely happens. In this amusing picture book we meet two cats who are completely incompatible, mainly because the new arrival is determined to cause as much mischief as possible. Young readers will enjoy seeing how these two very different felines find a solution to their problem.
