In the wild, wild wood there is a very tall tree, and under the tree lives Mr. Hare, who happens to be very hungry indeed. Clearly Mr. Hare has a problem, an empty tummy sort of problem. Thankfully Mr. Hare, like all hares, is very clever. He also has a “big, fat, juicy secret.”
Soon Miss Mouse comes by and Mr. Hare offers to tell her his secret, an offer that curious Miss Mouse cannot resist. Mr. Hare promises that he will share his secret with her if she will dance with him under his tree. Soon Miss Mouse is jiggling away while Mr. Hare hops.
Miss Mouse and Mr. Hare’s antics soon attract the attention of Mr. Fox. Miss Mouse asks Mr. Fox is he would like to know Mr. Hare’s secret. Being a nosy creature (which all foxes are) Mr. Fox would indeed like to know the secret. Mr. Hare once again offers to reveal all AFTER Mr. Fox has danced with him and Miss Mouse under the tree.
Children are going to laugh out loud when they figure out what Mr. Hare’s big secret is. It turns out that Mr. Hare is very clever indeed, and his story has a wonderful ending that is sweet and gently funny.
