It is a dark and creepy night. The moon is round and bright and when Mouse ventures outside he discovers that the night is full of frightening noises and scary shadows. First Mouse sees something flying overhead. “Eeek!” he cries. What can it be? Soon enough Mouse discovers that what he was seeing and hearing were just some little bats flying in the night sky. That is nothing to be afraid of.

One by one Mouse dispels his fears when he discovers that there is a perfectly reasonable and “not so scary” explanation for every thing that frightens him. Best of all Mouse learns that on this first Halloween night it is all right to feel a little spooked, for being a little scared is the perfect compliment to trick-or-treating and candy eating.

In this simple and warm little picture book the author and illustrator have created an entertaining story which will calm the fears of a child who is not sure about what to expect on Halloween. Vivid pastel illustrations and plenty of “Eeek!” mouse squeaks make this a perfect holiday book to read at bedtime.
