Hedgie the hedgehog loves living in Miss Jaster’s garden. Then one day he finds that she has given him a gift, and yet is it a gift after all? Hedgie is no longer a normal looking brown animal. Instead he is covered with blooming flowers. At first Hedgie is delighted at his new state, but then things seem to start going wrong and the poor little hedgehog has quite an adventure before he and Miss Jaster are once again able to be gentle companions.

Funny, mellow, and filled with wonderful large illustrations, this book is a gift for those who appreciate a slower pace in life, the beauty of a much loved garden, and who recognize that strange things can happen to even the most retiring of people.
