More than ever before, children need to know that it is vitally important to protect our planet, and the plants and animals that live on it. Thankfully, children are often natural environmentalists. The idea that we need to protect our world is one that they have no problem understanding. They are eager to get down to the business of making our world a cleaner, greener, and happier place.
The creators of this inspired picture book use verse, annotated photos, and cunning little illustrations to show children how they can incorporate green practices into their lives. Children can see how easy it is to recycle things, and that reducing how much you use is also easy to do. Simple actions make is easy to save energy in our homes, and reusing things can actually be fun. Among other things, you can make plant containers out of yogurt pots, wrapping paper out of newspaper, and a funny puppet out of an old sock. If you are so inclined, boxes, paper, bottles, bottle tops, foil, string, and other things can be turn into works of art.
At the back of the book, there is a list of promises that little children can make to help make the planet healthier. They are simple promises, but they are also very meaningful ones.
The book is a wonderful tool to show little children how they can make a difference, and how important their efforts are to help every living thing on Earth.
