Lars the little polar bear cub is going hunting with his father for the first time, and he is very excited. His father shows him how to do all kinds of useful things, like how to swim and how to dive.
After a very busy day, Lars and his father go to sleep, each behind a pile of sheltering snow. When Lars wakes up in the morning he discovers that the ice he was sleeping on broke away from the rest of the sea ice. He is all alone in an empty sea and it is getting “warmer and warmer.”
After a harrowing journey Lars finally gets to some land. He is shocked to see that there is no ice or snow in this place. Instead, there are brown hills, green trees, and a golden beach. Poor Lars has no idea where he is, nor does he know how to get home.
This story was first published in 1987 and since then it has been translated into many languages and has charmed children and their families all over the world. This lap size board book edition brings Lar’s charming story to little children, who will enjoy looking at the lovely illustrations as the story is read to them.
