North American immigrant experience: Coming to America

North America, especially the United States and Canada, are known as the melting pot. This is because most of the people originally came from somewhere else and immigrated. There are many rich stories about the people who came to America, from the reasons they left (such as the Irish Potato Famine) to the experiences they had once they arrived.

Many of those who immigrated arrived in New York City. For more on this see features on The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
