Earthquakes

An earthquake is a powerful force, caused by the release of force in Earth's crust. Earthquakes are most commonly caused by movement of the earth along faults or by volcanoes. They can be so minor that they aren't noticed by humans, but can also be terribly destructive natural disasters.

For more on one disastrous earthquake, see the feature on the San Francisco Earthquake.

For more on natural disasters, see the features on Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Volacnoes and Weather.
