Kitten's Winter
Picture Book
For ages 3 to 6
Kids Can Press, 2011 ISBN: 978-1554533435
It is wintertime, and outside there is snow on the ground. One would think that the cold weather would deter animals from being out and about, but Kitten, hurrying along through the snow, sees lots of animals.
There are birds sitting on the trees, and a squirrel looks for nuts under the snow. A fox trots passed as Kitten slides across the frozen surface of the pond. Kitten sees a rabbit hopping across the snow, and an otter catching a fish.
There are also all the animals that Kitten cannot see; the ones who are hiding or sleeping in tunnels, dens and burrows. Does Kitten sense that not far a bear, a chipmunk, a raccoon, a beaver, and a turtle are sleeping the cold days and nights away? Where is Kitten going to go next on this snowy day with its howling winds?
With its simple but image-rich rhyming text, and its gorgeous mixed media artwork, this is a title that children will pull off the shelves again and again.
This is one of four books about Kitten’s seasonal adventures.
