Making something that can be used can be deeply satisfying. Wind chimes and whirligigs are wonderful to make because when they are complete you can watch them move and hear them ring and sing as they are touched by  in the wind. You can hang them on a porch, from a tree, or on a deck, and they make excellent gifts.

The author of this book begins by going over the materials and tools that she uses in the projects. She also describes the techniques used to create them, and includes tips on how to assemble, color, and hang your finished creations.

This section is followed by instructions on how to make twelve different projects. Some, like the "Crazy Kitten" whirligig is quite easy to make, while others are a little more complicated. Often the author suggests how you might make a slightly different version of a project in her "Other Idea" section at the end of the instructions.

Each project includes a photograph, a list of materials, and then carefully written instructions with detailed illustrations to help you see how the project is put together from start to finish.
