Here is Jack and we are going to join him in the garden. It is spring and the soil is ready for planting. Here are the seeds that Jack has bought to plant in the garden. He plans on filling the garden with flowers of all kinds and we can see him planting the seeds in rows.
Now it is raining and Jack and his cat are out in the garden watching the ground. The seeds need the rain to grow and soon enough little seedlings can be seen sprouting through the soil. Over time the seedlings grow and grow until they are plants and then flowers pop out attracting all kinds of colorful insects and lovely birds.
Told in a style reminiscent of “This is the house that Jack built” this delightful picture book tells the story of a flower garden, showing children how a garden changes as seeds sprout and grow and how the plants attract insects and birds. Beautifully illustrated and carefully annotated so children know what everything is, this is a book which families will find themselves coming back to again and again.
At the back of the book the author has included a section to help children and their families create a garden of their own.
