Whenever Henry’s cousin Annie comes to visit, Henry and his dog Mudge have a grand time. Though she is particular about taking care of her “frilly dresses and shiny shoes,” Annie is still a good playmate, and when Henry hears that she is going to be moving in next door, he is thrilled.
On moving day Henry, Mudge, and Henry’s parents go to Annie’s house to help out. When they get there, Henry quickly sees that Annie is not coping with the stress of the move very well. In fact, her skin is covered with pink blotches. Henry understands how Annie feels because he knows her so well, and he makes a suggestion that he hopes will help her get through the day.
This Henry and Mudge title is sure to entertain young readers who are just beginning to enjoy reading books on their own. They will see how Henry’s empathy and sensitivity helps him figure out what his cousin needs during a stressful time. Sometimes the simplest of things can solve a seemingly big problem.
