Tonight is Halloween and when Amelia Bedelia arrives at Mr. and Mrs. Roger's house to work she finds that the place is festooned with bats and spider webs. The garden is also full of grave stones. At first Amelia is horrified, thinking something dreadful has happened but then Mr. and Mrs. Rogers explain that they are getting the house decorated for their Halloween party. Soon Amelia is busy helping her employers to get everything ready.
Of course, as per usual, Amelia does not always understand the instructions she is given. She has a tendency to take everything literally, so when she is asked to "crack a window," she does so - with a hammer. There are other mix-ups as well but somehow, by the evening, everything is ready for the party. Only one thing is missing - Amelia Bedelia.
Once again Amelia Bedelia?s funny mistakes will amuse her fans. For those who have never met this exceptional person before, this book will serve as an excellent introduction to Amelia's topsy-turvey world. Young readers will be delighted to see how Amelia manages, in this instance at least, to have the last word.
