The alarm has sounded! There is a fire at farmer pig’s farm and the fire department is needed to put it out. In the fire station Fireman Small slides down the fireman pole, dons his hat, coat and boots, and rushes to the scene of the fire.

Flames and smoke pour out of the barn and inside the fire is “creeping up the wall.” Never fear though for Fireman Small is soon putting out the fire, hosing down the barn with lots of water.

Young children will love the easy rhyming rhythm and the wonderful sound words that fill this undemanding yet exciting little story. Fireman Small is the kind of hero children love to admire and there can be do doubt that little boys and girls will have a wonderful time playing at being the courageous Fireman Small for themselves.
