The alarm bell is ringing in the firehouse, and the firefighters come running. Quickly they put on their fireproof clothing, and get into their fire truck. With sirens wailing, the truck leaves the firehouse escorted by the fire chief in his car.
At the scene of the fire, the firefighters “Lift the ladders, haul the hose,” and soon water is pouring out onto the flames. Are there any people in the house? Are the firefighters in time?
Children are fascinated by firefighters. They enjoy hearing about how firefighters save lives and put out fires, and they love the shiny red trucks that firefighters use.
In this action packed board book, Patricia Hubbell’s verse is paired with Viviana Garofoli’s colorful illustrations to give children a picture of what it is like to be a firefighter.
