One day a bear is walking through the woods when he comes across a little boy called Jack who is sitting on a tree stump. The little boy is clearly very upset and he soon explains to the bear that he is lost. He also explains that he is “in terrible trouble” because the forest if full of “ferocious wild beasts” that will “pounce on you and gobble you up.” The bear is very disturbed by this frightful news and the two new friends quickly set off.

The soon meet an elephant, and the large animal is quite terrified when it hears that that there are ferocious beasts in the forest. Surely no one is safe when there are ferocious beasts on the loose!

Young children will love this funny picture book. As the story unfolds the humorous nature of Jack’s dilemma grows and grows until, finally, readers get to hear the final deliciously amusing last line.
