Ed Emberley’s Drawing Book of Trucks and Trains
Nonfiction Drawing Book
For ages 5 to and up
Little Brown, 2005 ISBN: 978-0316789677
Ed Emberley has created a wonderful system to help children (and others) learn how to draw all sorts of things. By breaking a picture object down into its component parts of lines, circles, squares, rectangles, triangles and so on, Emberley has found a way to make drawing even the most complex things very easy. Instructions are drawn in and each step of the process can be clearly seen. Because there are no written directions, this book is perfect for children who cannot read yet or who are still learning how to do so.
In this book Emberley teaches how to draw all manner of vehicles from wonderful old fashioned steam trains (complete with a driver) to tow trucks and ambulances. Children can create whole fleets of vehicles and yards of trains of all kinds. Once they have mastered the basic techniques they can give their imaginations full reign and add their own touches, colors and variations to the basic designs shown in the book.
