Sheep is driving his green jeep to the fair. He happily drives through the countryside until he comes to a crossroads, which is where he stops because he is not sure which way to go. Sheep is standing in the road trying to figure out what to do when Duck, in his red truck, drives up.

Duck explains that the road Sheep needs is “very near” and he proceeds to help Sheep back up the jeep so that he can go the right way. Unfortunately Duck, who is prone to creating  muddles, guides Sheep into a very large and very muddy puddle. The jeep isn’t going anywhere now and Sheep has no choice but to get out of his vehicle and wade through the puddle. Unfortunately Sheep, who is prone to having accidents, falls into the puddle.

It is very hard not to develop an affection for irrepressible Duck and his cautious friend Sheep. Poor Sheep gets into situations because of Duck, but we know that Duck always means well. With a simple rhyming text and wonderful characters, this is a book that children will come back to again and again.

This title is one in a series of books that feature Duck and Sheep’s adventures.
