Rocket the dog and his friend the little yellow bird love words, and they love collecting new words to add to their word tree. One day they go out together to find some new words and it isn’t long before they have found a leaf, a hat, and a yellow star. In each case Rocket retrieves the object and when his friend tells him to “Drop it, Rocket,” Rocket always drops the object on the ground. He is such a good dog.

Then Rocket finds a red boot and there is something about the boot that he finds captivating. In fact it is such a wonderful boot that Rocket refuses to drop it. Even when he is offered a ball, a stick, and a sock, Rocket refuses to give up the boot.

Readers who have already met Rocket in his two picture books will be delighted to share in another adventure that little dog and his friends have in this beginner chapter book. The story is engaging, easy to follow and it perfectly suits little children who are eager to start reading on their own.
