Animal fathers, just like their human counterparts, get tired. They need to takes naps so that they are rested and ready to play with their children, and care for them. The thing is that animal fathers, even when they are asleep, like to have their children near.

Here we see a father lion. He is lying on his side, his eyes are closed, and his two great front paws are crossed over each other. Propped up against one of his back legs is his little cub who looks like he is waiting for his parent to wake up.

Next we see a father horse and he snoozes, and dreams, standing up. His little foal stands in front of him, patiently waiting.

If you think that sleeping standing up is peculiar, then you should see the daddy flamingo in this book. He is fast asleep and is standing on only one of his long pink legs. The flamingo’s chick is nearby and we notice that the little bird does not have a long neck like his sleeping father.

This charming little board book is a perfect title to share with a child at bedtime.
