In a field there are ten little dalmation dogs, each one of which lives in a colorfully painted dog house. The dogs are adventurous and soon all of them are off exploring different habitats where they meet some interesting animals.

The first dog sees a squirrel in a tree not far from its home, but the second dog ventures further afield where it sees two kangaroos, a mother and her baby. The dog even dares to hop into the mother kangaroo’s pouch. The third dog hangs out with three tortoises. Wanting to be more likes its new friends, the dog puts a hat on its back so that it too can carry a home around with it.

Further on in the book we see one of the dogs hanging from a tree with six bats, and the ninth dog goes for a swim with nine fish. When their journeys are over the dogs come home to their field where they frolic in the sun.

Young children are going to enjoy learning and practicing their numbers with the amusing dogs in this book. With sturdy, tabbed pages and colorful illustrations, this is a board book that children will come back to again and again.
