Little Crocodile is looking for her mother, searching here and there. Little Crocodile sees that there is something under some shiny leaves. Is her mother there? When we look under the leaves, we find out that the animal hiding there is not Little Crocodile’s mother. Instead it is “parrot with her feathery wings.”
Next Little Crocodile sees that there is an animal is hiding in the tall grass, but when she takes a closer look she discovers that the animal is not her mother. Instead it is an elephant.
Children will enjoy using the visual clues to try to guess what Little Crocodile is seeing under leaves, behind tall grass, amongst the flowers, and in a mango tree. When the animal is revealed, children are shown what the animal looks like, and one of the animal’s distinctive physical features is described.
With thick board pages that clack together when the book is shaken, colorful illustrations, and a cunning little handle, this is the perfect little book to give to a curious little child who likes animals.
